Shaylee’s “Snow Day” Delivers Punk Rock Goodness

Shaylee is the power pop/dream punk trio you never knew you needed in your life. Fronted by Elle Archer’s shredding lead guitar, backed by Nate Anderson’s propulsive drumming, and held down by Robin Cook’s rock solid bass lines, their songs ring out like anthems for a queer generation. Toeing the line between power pop, post-rock, and psych-rock, Shaylee’s music feels familiar and unique all at once.
In 2020, Shaylee was signed to Kill Rock Stars, who dropped their cover of Elliott Smith‘s Alphabet Town shortly thereafter. Later in 2020, Shaylee’s debut single Audrey was released as a 7″ vinyl single on Kill Rock Stars, along with a haunting music video.

In March 2022, Shaylee dropped her third LP and label debut with Kill Rock Stars, Short-Sighted Security. Two years in the making, the album is a lushly produced document of a deeply painful yet creatively bountiful time in Elle’s life at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Ranging from sweeping post-rock (Audrey), to blissful, bouncy power pop (Ophelia), all the way to synth-accompanied indie folk (The World Changes Around Us), the album is a versatile showcase for Elle’s range as a songwriter and musician, scratching many an itch for fans of Big Starbeabadoobeegirl in red, and former KRS label-mate Elliott Smith.

The band has been working on a follow-up LP, due out “eventually”. Stay tuned.
