Maty Noyes Debuts New Single Lighter Thief

Ask Maty Noyes where she gets her inspiration from, and she’ll promptly tell you she gets it from “living my f*cking life.”

Spoken like a true free spirit.

Being a free spirit is likely what led Maty to commit her life to music at just 12 years old and eventually leave her teeny, tiny hometown of Corinth, Mississippi.

“I just knew,” remembers Maty. “I knew staying in a small town wasn’t for me. I knew my life was going to happen somewhere else. I needed the freedom to delve deeper into my passion and fully get in touch with my sound.”

The multi-genre singer/songwriter has a knack for storytelling, which she delivers with her sharp tongue and distinctly sultry voice. At just 16, Maty headed to Nashville, landing a record deal with Lava Records shortly after.

Maty soon found herself working with some of music’s biggest names. After meeting The Weeknd through their mutual producer, Stephen Moccio, Maty was subsequently featured on “Angel,” the closing track on The Weeknd’s 2015 Grammy-winning #1 album Beauty Behind the Madness. In 2016, she was featured with Kygo on the song “Stay,” which introduced Maty to an international audience. To date, “Stay” has well over 500 million streams on Spotify alone.

Maty then established her early signature sound with the release of her debut EP, Noyes Complaint. The much-acclaimed EP featured the fan-favorite “In My Mind,” which has just under 130 million streams on Spotify. Her next project, Love Songs From A Lolita, fueled Maty’s momentum, earning her endorsements from Rolling Stone, Billboard, FADER, Nylon, Complex, Ones to Watch, PAPER, V Magazine, The New York Times and more.

“I don’t believe in limits,” says Maty. “Any day I go into the studio, I could come out with something disco or super poppy, or it could be a soul song. I am all about pushing boundaries, breaking through limitations, and avoiding boxes. For me, I want contradictions to define me. Because contradictions challenge me to be undefinable, to be more tomorrow than I am today.”

Now based in Los Angeles, Maty is committed to sustain a music career that connects people from all walks of life. She also wants to help save every dog in America.

Maty is now gearing up for the release of her newest record, Rainbow Syndrome, which features first single “Lighter Thief,” and five other dynamic tracks. Like her previous releases, Rainbow Syndrome finds Maty doing what she does best – using her creativity, lyrics and distinct voice to bring the listener into her world.

“Music is therapeutic to me,” says Maty. “I can’t move on from something in my life until I’ve written a song about it – happy, sad, confused, any emotion. And I don’t hold anything back, it’s always truthful and vulnerable. Every song I’ve written for this latest project is based on a real story. The message of the project, like some of my older work, has been consistent, but the way it’s being expressed is now completely authentic to me, without the opinions and criticism of people who don’t even make music for a living.”
