Check out three folk singer songwriters that will make you cry that you should know

One genre continues to bless us consistently, and that is folk music.

Check out these new releases from folk singer/songwriters that you might love.

Bess Atwell – Release Myself

Bess Hildick-Smith, known by her stage name as Bess Atwell, grew up in the English countryside, one of four children to an eclectic family of artists, songwriters and doctors. Growing up Atwell dabbled in acting, musical theatre, and fine art. She says “the love of singing is something I think most people realise at a very young age. I grew up in a creative household; many of my extended family are musicians, my dad a songwriter himself, and mother an artist”.

The single is off her upcoming album ‘Light Sleeper’ coming May 24th, 2024. Pre-order it here: https://bessatwell.lnk.to/LightSleeper

What others are saying:

“A gifted singer-songwriter with a voice like slow, cool water” – The Guardian

“A promising folk poet of suppression and inner anxiety” – The Independent

Rae Isla – Stones – intimate piano recording

Rae Isla is an independent singer-songwriter from Seattle, WA. Classically trained in cello, then studying voice as well as business at Berklee College of Music. Rae started her career in Brooklyn, NY, collaborating on early releases with producers Gianluca Buccellati (Lana Del Rey, Arlo Parks) and Garrett Eaton (Holly Miranda). She went on to co-produce and release her first EP and album while becoming a staple in NYC’s indie live music scene. Rae’s music has been featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and more. Her debut album “Another Life” was the 27th most added record in the world on NACC Charts.

In addition to traditional song releases, Rae Isla is one of a handful of musicians pioneering the music web3 space via Blockchain and NFTs. She has sold over 2,000 NFTS (equivalent to ~55 million streams), attending conferences around the world to speak about her journey.

2024 marks a transformative year for Rae, highlighted by a string of new releases, national-wide tour dates, and a recording of “Ezra,” the title song for the upcoming Bleecker Street Films release starring Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne and Robert De Niro. Rae can be seen traveling across North America this spring, performing with TikTok superstar Sammy Arriaga and Gen Z sensation Hans Williams. Her new releases like fan favorite “Stones” signify a pivotal change in Rae Isla’s musical direction, as she delves deep into her music roots, adopting an Americana sound that blends traditional elements with her unique contemporary flair.

This dreamy, intimate recording is Rae Isla’s first single of 2024, leading up to the release of her sophomore album this summer.
